Blaktop’s Ron Ricker earns NHMTA Master Truck Driver Certification
Ron Ricker, a professional driver for Blaktop, Inc., has been awarded the prestigious Master Truck Driver Certification. Ricker has more than 68,000 accident-free hours over his career.
Concord, NH — The New Hampshire Motor Transport Association (NHMTA) is proud to announce that Ron Ricker, a professional driver for Blaktop, Inc., has been awarded the prestigious Master Truck Driver Certification. The award was presented on September 15, which is the first day of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
The NHMTA Master Truck Driver Certification recognizes drivers who achieve one million accident-free miles or 25,000 hours of accident-free driving — the equivalent of 10 years on the road. Ricker has far surpassed those requirements, with more than 68,000 accident-free hours over his career.
Ricker has been a professional truck driver for 50 years without a single accident, a remarkable achievement that highlights his dedication to safety, skill, and professionalism. For the past 34 years, he has driven for Blaktop, Inc., a well-respected asphalt and paving company based in New Hampshire. His long tenure demonstrates not only his loyalty to the company, but also the trust and confidence Blaktop has placed in him.
“When Ron started driving trucks 50 years ago, there were no electronic logging devices, no collision avoidance systems, and no GPS navigation,” said NHMTA President Joseph Sculley. “Even as technology has transformed the industry, the foundation of safety has always been the driver. Ron’s record proves that professionalism, awareness, and responsibility are what keep our roads safe.”
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is held annually to recognize the nearly 3.6 million professional truck drivers in America who keep goods and materials moving safely and efficiently across the country.
“I would like to thank our partners in safety, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and New Hampshire Department of Safety (NH DOS) for being here to recognize this achievement,” Joseph Sculley said. “It means a lot that NH’s Division Administrator for FMCSA, and the Commissioner of Safety and top members of his team, were here today. We are partners in safety, and it’s great to celebrate success together,” Sculley concluded.
